What is the Hepatitis C Coalition?
Hepatitis C is a serious lifelong infection that can lead to liver disease, organ failure and premature death. There is no vaccine yet.
The Coalition is a group of health care professionals and concerned citizens with various backgrounds working together to address the emerging problem of Hepatitis C in South Carolina.
The Mission of the South Carolina Hepatitis C Coalition
The mission is to increase the level of awareness, education, treatment services, and prevention activities among target groups in South Carolina, including health care workers, health care providers, patients and the public.
Goals of the Coalition
The Coalition will work to:
- Increase the awareness of Hepatitis C as a major public health issue to minimize its impact on South Carolina
- Focus on prevention programs
- Serve as a clearinghouse for information, educational resources and programs, and patient referral systems for Hepatitis C
- Establish and enhance collaboration among various partners in the Coalition
